The Slit — Winter Stations 2024
The dawn marks a threshold. Not a moment of arrival, but a condition of being in between. The Slit is conceived as an architectural edge, a device that stages transition rather than resolving it.
The installation is organized around a narrow opening, calibrated to the body. Visitors approach, pass through the slit, and emerge on the other side. The act is simple, physical, and unavoidable. The project does not prescribe meaning; it produces a situation.
Designed for solitary passage and collective observation, The Slit operates between darkness and light, compression and release. Movement through the object is constrained, even uncomfortable, yet deliberate. The difficulty of passage is not an obstacle but the point.
The Slit occupies the space between past and future, inside and outside, before and after. Transformation here is neither abstract nor seamless. It is spatial, bodily, and momentary. What happens on the other side is not guaranteed, but it is different.
