Nestled within a urban infill site, this project explores the absurdity of everyday architecture while offering a dynamic and expressive living environment through a playful blend of form, material, and function.

Maquette

The Checkerboard Façade, Playful Balconies, Rounded Roofline

At first glance, the façade appears rigid and orderly, but upon closer inspection, unexpected moments of play emerge—irregularly placed windows, bold yellow frames, and deliberate asymmetry. This tension between the ordinary and the absurd encourages both residents and passersby to find beauty and surprise in the architectural details.

Facade

Bold yellow balconies extend outward, transforming functional elements into visual markers of individuality. These balconies not only disrupt the grid’s order but also act as platforms for social interaction and expression. They invite users to engage with the urban context in unexpected ways, blurring the lines between private and public space.

View

At its core, The Apartment Beneath Two Houses is a deliberate embrace of the unexpected to disrupt the predictable. By challenging architectural norms and reimagining the function of everyday elements, this project celebrates the magic that emerges when the ordinary is viewed through a lens of imagination and playfulness.
